Tampermonkey YouTube download guide
Two-step setup, three-step download, plus fixes for stalls and save prompts.
Core setup (2 steps)
Install the extension, then the script. After that, download buttons appear on YouTube pages.

Install the extension: search and install "Tampermonkey" from your browser extension store.

Install the script: find the "YouTube tools" script, click "Install this script," and confirm adding it to Tampermonkey.
Download flow
Click the buttons to finish the download.

Open any YouTube video; new buttons from the script appear under the video.

Click the MP4 button and pick a resolution (e.g., 720p) from the dropdown.

Click download to start. Progress may pause around 2%—wait and it continues.

When finished, if pop-ups are blocked, click "Allow" in the address bar, then choose a save location.
Quick FAQ
- A brief stall at ~2% is normal—wait and it resumes.
- If no save dialog appears, allow pop-ups and try again.
Troubleshooting
No download buttons under the YouTube video
- Chrome > Extensions > Manage extensions > find Tampermonkey > Details.
- Enable “Allow this site to run scripts” (or user scripts).
- Restart the browser and reopen the YouTube page.
No save dialog after download finishes
- When done, the address bar may show “Enable pop-ups on YouTube to automatically download the video.” Click Allow.
- If missed, open Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects, and allow youtube.com.
